Personal History Definition

What is personal history? It is writing the story of your life so that future generations can know who you were and what you did with your life. The greatest gift a parent can leave for his children and grandchildren is his story. I pester my parents again and again to write down their personal histories because I want to know more about who they really are and when they are gone I want my children and grandchildren to know them.

Your personal history is your autobiography. It is your chance to proclaim to the world that you lived and what you accomplished. It contains your good times, your hard times and everything else in between. As you sit down and begin to write about your life you will probably come to learn a lot about yourself during the process.

Are you ready to get started? It is never too early or too late to start writing your personal history. I am here to help you get started. Each day I will post a question. All you have to to is grab a notebook, or a computer, and write your answer to that question. If other things come to your mind as your writing, be sure to write them down as well. Write as much, or as little, as you want, although I say write as much as you possibly can.

Okay! Grab a notebook. Save a file on your computer. Each day you will add to it. In no time at all you will find that pages filling up and overflowing with the beautiful thing that is your life. You can do it!

Here are a few books I recommend to help you get started on your journey.
